Quota 2: An increase in applications by 8.5%

At the application deadline for quota 2, 1,291 prospective students had applied for an educational programme at Cphbusiness as their first priority as opposed to 1,190 last year.

26 March 2020

The quota 2 deadline this year was postponed a week due to coronavirus, but when the deadline expired March 22, 8,5% more students than in 2019 had applied for an AP degree or the Bachelor’s Degree Programme in Financial Management and Service at Cphbusiness as their first priority.

- It supports the tendency, that more young people are aware of the opportunities offered by our study programmes. Even if they do not apply straight from high school, but have been trying different things, says President at Cphbusiness, Ole Gram-Olesen.

Financial study programme sees a huge increase

One of the programmes that have seen a huge increase in the number of applicants, is the AP Degree Programme in Financial Management at Cphbusiness City in the heart of the old Copenhagen.

270 people applied for that programme as their first priority against 213 people in 2019. This amounts to an increase of 27%, and the cause of success may be the good reputation of the programme.

- The unemployment rate among the graduates is very low, and this is something the young people are aware of. The AP degree has a rightful reputation that every student gets a relevant internship and a relevant job in the end, says Bo Steen Larsen, Dean – Economical & Financial Management.

IT and multimedia design programmes are popular

Many AP degree programmes at Cphbusiness have seen an increase in applications during this spring’s quota 2 application – especially the technical programmes such as the AP Degree in Computer Science and the AP Degree in Multimedia Design.

49 people have applied for the AP Degree in Multimedia Design this year compared to 26 people in 2019. This is a huge increase of 88%, but also the AP Degree in Computer Science is seeing more applicants.

43% more people have applied for admission to the AP Degree Programme in Computer Science at Cphbusiness Lyngby – 67 people this year compared to 47 people in 2019. And at Cphbusiness on Bornholm, 9 people have applied for that specific AP Degree as their first priority - up from two people last year.

Big potential for Computer Science on Bornholm

Both the AP Degree Programme in Computer Science and the AP Degree Programme in Multimedia Design are capped. This means, that Cphbusiness is not allowed to accept more students, even if more people apply.

However, the AP Degree Programme in Computer Science at Cphbusiness on Bornholm is exempt from this limitation as part of the political effort to increase educational opportunities in the more rural areas of Denmark.

Head of Development at Cphbusiness on Bornholm, Marie Anker Jackson, is delighted with the 9 applicants, and there is a great possibility that all applicants who the meet the formal requirements can be admitted to the programme at Bornholm.

- We are very excited to see that so many want to study the AP Degree Programme in Computer Science at Bornholm, says Marie Anker Jackson, adding:

- Our experience is that more people will join after the quota 1 application deadline on July 5, and we still have vacancies at the AP Degree Programme in Computer Science, the AP Degree Programme in Financial Management, the AP Degree Programme in Service, Tourism and Hospitality and the Bachelor’s Degree Programme in Innovation and Entrepreneurship at Bornholm. We are optimistic and look forward to receiving even more applicants.
